The extraordinary design versatility of Corian®
has been limited only by the imagination ... and until now,
by certain fixing and hingeing challenges.
Now, thanks to an ingenious new invention, there's a solution
that opens up a world of new possibilities for working with
Corian®. This latest technical
and commercial innovation is the invaluable Corian®
Squirrel®, a device which
allows fabricators to bolt directly into the solid surface
easily and efficiently.
The Squirrel® has been developed
by a company called Cutting
Edge (worldwide patent pending). The device has already
proved its worth in a number of new applications including
the Corian® Jigsaw by PowerDesk
and other new furniture
designs that use only metal and Corian®.
What's more, when combining the Squirrel®
technology with specially developed new hinges, Corian®
can also now be used to create kitchen
and bathroom cabinet doors. The list of Squirrel®
applications is endless!!
The Squirrels® have been
tested by FIRA and the end results for withdrawal strength
values were high at 4500 Newtons (approximately 450kgsf or
1000lbsf). Further information and test results are available

 The
Corian® Jigsaw by PowerDesk
was installed using approximately 30 Squirrels®
to one unit. The Squirrels®
have been used to join the metal framework of the legs to
the underside of the Corian®,
thus eliminating the use of MDF.
